Football, volleyball leads Academic OAC contingent

AUSTINTOWN – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its Academic All-OAC honors for Fall 2015, and 17 Wilmington College student-athletes qualified for the honors.

The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade-point- average of at least 3.50.

Two student-athletes – junior football player David Henry (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington; Sport Management Wellness) and sophomore volleyball player Hannah Kockentiet (Alpha, OH/Dayton Christian; Political Science) – earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages.

The football and volleyball teams accounted for team-high five players each on the academic team.

Joining Henry from the football team were senior Kyle Davis (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington; 3.70, Education), sophomore Samuel Tedtman (Louisville, KY/Atherton; 3.61, Athletic Training/Sport Management), sophomore Ryan Prince (Urbana, OH/Urbana; 3.56, Education) and sophomore Kentrell Lodge (Cleveland, OH/Salem (GA); 3.50, Mathematics).

In addition to Kockentiet, the volleyball team was represented by junior Catlin Pauley (Kenton, OH/Riverdale; 3.97, Agriculture/Education), sophomore Kara Short (Conover, OH/Fairlawn; 3.92, Agriculture/Agronomy), sophomore Kennedy Harshaw (Xenia, OH/Xenia; 3.67, Athletic Training), and junior Noel Cain (Dayton, OH/Archbishop Carroll; 3.52, Athletic Training).

The women’s soccer team added four members – junior Taylor Scott (Lynchburg, OH/Lynchburg-Clay; 3.78, Psychology), junior Morgan Combs (Tipp City, OH/Tippecanoe; 3.56, Psychology), senior Erika Good (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg; 3.53, Athletic Training) and sophomore Ana Hosler (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester; 3.52, Agriculture/Animal Science) - to the academic All-OAC list.

Senior Mary Krebs (Kettering, OH/Alter; 3.94, Education) presented women’s cross country, sophomore Nils Asteberg (Ojersjo, Sweden, Porthalla Gymnasium; 3.96, Business Administration) presented men’s soccer, and sophomore Travis Scheadler (Goshen, OH/Goshen; 3.96, Psychology) presented men’s cross country to round out the list.
