@DubC_XCTR women second in season opener

NEW CONCORD- The Wilmington College women's cross country team opened the 2017 season at the Muskingum invite tonight. The youthful Fightin' Quakers team, made up entirely of freshmen and sophomore runners, finished the meet solidly in second-place with 48 points, 28 points ahead of the third-place team. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore Allison Helmke (Defiance, OH/Tinora) led the way for the Fightin' Quakers, snagging a fifth-place finish by crossing the finish line of the 4K race in 17:27.92. 
  • Freshman McKenzie Hamm (Blachester, OH/Blanchester) was the next WC runner to cross the finish line. Hamm finished seventh, showing a lot of strength for her first ever collegiate race, with a time of 18:06.37. 
  • Next to finish was freshman Summer Doty (North Lewisburg, OH/Triad). Doty ran an 18:19.67 to earn ninth-place for the team.
