@DubC_XCTR closes out season at NCAA Regionals

HOLLAND, MI- The Wilmington College Cross Country Teams traveled to Hope College Saturday for NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regionals.

While OAC Championships, two weeks earlier, marked the end of the season for most of the athletes on the team,  one female and six male athletes were granted the opportunity to travel and compete on this national stage for their final meet of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Women

  • Senior Stephanie Fetters (West Milton,OH/Milton-Union) ran the final 6k race of her career in a time of 27:52.1, which was her second fastest 6k of the season. This time placed her 218th out of 232 athletes.

Men

  • The men competed in an 8k race and finished with an average time of  28:26.8, nearly half a minute faster than their average at the OAC Championship meet only two weeks before. The team finished 33rd out of 36 competing teams.

  • Junior Griffin Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) finished first for the Fightin' Quakers in 27:19.6. His time earned him 132nd place in the field of 249 athletes.

  • Sophomore Rick Pride (Mount Orab, OH/Western Brown) finished next in 166th place overall, his time 27:56.1.

  • The next finishes for the Fightin' Quakers came from freshman Jeff Clydesdale (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) and sophomore Gage Egner (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester). Clydesdale finished in 28:27.1 for 186th place, and Egner in 28:54.8 for 199th place.

  • Rounding out the Regional team for the Fightin' Quakers were junior Cameron Erwin (South Vienna, OH/Northeastern) who finished in 215th place (29:36.3) and sophomore Elliott Phillimore (Old Fort, OH/Old Fort) who finished 220th (29:42.5).
