Volleyball to Dual Denison on the Road Wednesday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team continues non-conference play with a mid-week match at Denison University on Wednesday evening. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Denison. The Fightin' Quakers are 1-10 on the season and looking to rebound from an 0-4 weekend at the Bishop Invitation hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University last weekend. The Big Red are an even 5-5 through 10 matches of 2019. Denison most recently finished the Quaker Classic hosted at Earlham College with a 2-0 mark.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived as Andy Riesenberg, an experienced coach at the NCAA Division I, II, III and club levels, enters his first season leading the program in 2019. The Mount St. Joseph University alumnus has spent time at Southern Illinois University, Xavier University and Ohio University as an assistant coach as well as a stint as head coach at NCAA Division II institution Lake Erie College. Carter Cassell is in his third year as Denison's head coach.

The Players: The Wilmington duo of Jillian Wesco and Taylor McCuistion continue to lead the Quakers offensively as both average over 1.80 kills per set and have accounted for over 54 percent of the team's kills. Both have also tallied over 100 digs per set in addition to their offensive numbers. Setter Summer Wilbur dishes out over 5.5 assists per set. Denison features three hitters – Lucy Anderson, Emma Woerner and Sidney Gossard – that all average over 2.25 kills per set. Setter Sophie Tight dishes out 8.59 assists per set while libero Jenna Corrao tallies over 4.5 digs per set.
