Volleyball Travels to Baldwin Wallace for OAC Match Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team travels to Baldwin Wallace University for a 1 p.m. Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) on Saturday afternoon.

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace (BW). The Fightin' Quakers stand at 7-18 overall and 0-5 in the OAC. Wilmington most recent defeated the University of Cincinnati Clermont College in straight sets, but fell to Otterbein University in in straight sets in its most recent OAC contest. The Yellow Jackets are 24-3 on the season including a 4-2 conference mark after sweeping John Carroll University on Tuesday.

The Coaches: Tim O'Brien enters his fourth year as Wilmington's head volleyball coach. He has improved the Quakers' wins total each of his first three seasons and is looking to break through in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) this season. A 2012 graduate of Siena Heights University, O'Brien was a four-year letter-winner for the Saints' men's volleyball, team and ranks in seven career and seasonal program records. Scott Carter is in his fourth season as BW's head volleyball coach. The Yellow Jackets have a 107-22 record under his guidance.

The Players: Jillian Wesco and Karrah Wind have emerged as Wilmington's top two offensive threats has both average over 1.50 kills per set. A trio of Quakers – Mariella Szrom, Taylor McCuistion and Amber Rox – have chipped in offensively as all average over a kill per set. Jacie Koontz leads the setting duties with an average of 3.27 assists per set while Karley Schlensker leads the back row with 4.55 digs per set. BW featured a balanced scoring attack as five Yellow Jackets put down over two kills per set. Ivy early leads the bunch with 190 kills. BW's 6-2 offense features Kathleen Egan and Ashley Nuding at setter. Both dish out over five assists per set. Sarah Reinhard bolsters the BW back row with 5.49 digs per set.
