Volleyball Hosts UC Clermont in Final Non-Conference Game Thursday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team steps out of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play for the final time in 2018 on Thursday as the Fightin' Quakers host the University of Cincinnati Clermont College (UC Clermont). First serve is slated for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and UC Clermont. The Quakers stand at 6-18 overall after a straight-set loss to OAC leading Otterbein University on Tuesday. The Cougars, who are 15-10 on the season, have played just one NCAA Division III opponent thus far this season.

The Coaches: Tim O'Brien enters his fourth year as Wilmington's head volleyball coach. He has improved the Quakers' wins total each of his first three seasons and is looking to break through in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) this season. A 2012 graduate of Siena Heights University, O'Brien was a four-year letter-winner for the Saints' men's volleyball, team and ranks in seven career and seasonal program records. Josh Hamer is UC Clermont's head volleyball coach.

The Players: Jillian Wesco and Karrah Wind lead Wilmington offensively as both average over 1.50 kills per set. Wesco is also second on the team in digs behind only Karley Schlensker's 4.52 digs per set. Jacie Koontz and Grace Ewing have split the setting duties with Koontz leading the squad at 3.6 assists per set while Mariella Szrom has 52 blocks on the season. Statistics for UC Clermont were not available.

First Time Around: Wilmington swept UC Clermont 25-21, 25-19, 26-24 on Sept. 25.
