Volleyball Hosts OAC Leader Otterbein on Tuesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Tuesday when the Fightin' Quakers host league-leading Otterbein University for a 7 p.m. contest.

The Teams: Wilmington and Otterbein. The Quakers stand at 6-17 overall and 0-5 in OAC play after falling to Marietta College in straight sets and defeating Ohio University-Chillicothe in straight sets in a tri-match on Saturday. The Cardinals are 17-5 overall and 5-0 in the OAC after defeating Heidelberg University 3-2 on the road on Saturday.

The Coaches: Tim O'Brien enters his fourth year as Wilmington's head volleyball coach. He has improved the Quakers' wins total each of his first three seasons and is looking to break through in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) this season. A 2012 graduate of Siena Heights University, O'Brien was a four-year letter-winner for the Saints' men's volleyball, team and ranks in seven career and seasonal program records. Monica Wright has been Otterbein's volleyball coach since 2007 and led the Cardinals to a 30-4 record and an OAC title last season.

The Players: Jillian Wesco and Karrah Wind lead Wilmington offensively as both average over 1.50 kills per set. Wesco is also second on the team in digs behind only Karley Schlensker's 4.58 digs per set. Jacie Koontz and Grace Ewing have split the setting duties with Koontz leading the squad at 3.12 assists per set while Mariella Szrom has 50 blocks on the season. Hadley Sterett leads the Otterbein offense with 4.30 kills per set while Tate Eppard has a .314 attack percentage and also averages over two kills per set. Andrea Miller dishes out over 11 assists per set in the Cardinals' 5-1 offensive attack while Ashlyn Leon bolsters the Otterbein back row with 4.85 digs per set.
