Volleyball Continues OAC Play at Muskingum on Tuesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team looks to bounce back from a loss in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opener as the Fightin' Quakers continue OAC play at Muskingum University on Tuesday evening.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers are 5-13 overall and 0-1 in conference play after a straight-set loss at Heidelberg University on Saturday. The Fighting Muskies are 17-2 on the season and swept John Carroll University 3-0 to open OAC competition.

The Coaches: Tim O'Brien enters his fourth year as Wilmington's head volleyball coach. He has improved the Quakers' wins total each of his first three seasons and is looking to break through in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) this season. A 2012 graduate of Siena Heights University, O'Brien was a four-year letter-winner for the Saints' men's volleyball, team and ranks in seven career and seasonal program records. Hallie Donathan is in her third season as Muskingum's head volleyball coach. The 2013 graduate ­­­of Wittenberg University led the Muskies to a 20-6 record last season including a berth in the OAC Tournament.

The Players: Jillian Wesco leads Wilmington with 121 kills while also contributing 229 digs in the back row, second-best on the team. Taylor McCuistion, Mariella Szrom and Karrah Wind have all put down at least 75 kills while Amber Rox also averages over one kill per set. Three Quakers – Jacie Koontz, Grace Ewing and Summer Wilbur – split the setting duties with Kootnz and Wilbur dishing out over three assists per set. Defensively, Szrom has recorded 35 blocks while Karley Schlensker averages 4.58 digs per set as Wilmington's libero. Three Muskies – Brooke Fatheree, Brynn Guist and Carson Miller – all average nearly 2.50 kills pet set with Fatheree leading the bunch at 3.37 kills per set. Erin Dickson leads Muskingum's 5-1 attack by averaging 10.77 assists per set while Jessica Cottle tallies 4.92 digs per set.
