The Wilmington College volleyball team stepped away from conference action Wednesday, and fell in straight sets, 25-19, 25-21, 25-10, in Fred Raizk Arena at Hermann Court.
WHAT HAPPENED – SET ONE
- Senior Ariana Neff (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) served seven straight points to turn 7-2 deficit into 9-7 lead.
- UCC scored the final four points to take the victory.
- Wilmington had its highest hitting percentage of the match, hitting .231 with 10 kills on 26 attempts and four errors
WHAT HAPPENED – SET TWO
- After leading 21-20, Wilmington surrendered the final five points of the set.
- The second set had five lead changes.
WHAT HAPPENED – SET THREE
- UCC scored 12 of the last 14 points
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Junior Catlin Pauley (Kenton, OH/Riverdale) led the team with 11 kills on 30 attempts with seven errors. She added four digs.
- Neff, who has moved outside, finished with five kills on 14 attempts with five errors. She added 10 assists and five digs.
- Junior Noel Cain (Dayton, OH/Archbishop Carroll) distributed a team-high 12 assists.
- Sophomore Kennedy Harshaw (Xenia, OH/Xenia) led the team with eight digs, while adding five kills on 18 attempts with five erros.
Wilmington (0-14 overall) travels to Berea, KY to face St. Mary of the Woods 12:30 p.m. Saturday, and then will play host Berea at 2 p.m. It will be the final non-conference matches of the season.
