Volleyball falls to Capital

The Wilmington College volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-16) to Capital in Ohio Athletic Conference action Tuesday at Hermann Court.

Things started well for the Fightin' Quakers as they raced out to a 10-5 lead in the first set. However, Capital scored four straight and 20 of the final 24 points to post the set win.

The second set was tight throughout, but the Crusaders sealed the victory by scoring the final six points after the match was tied at 19.

Capital led the entire third set in finishing out the match.

Junior Tabby Biegler (Columbus, OH/Briggs) led the team with six kills on 24 attempts with two errors.

Senior Ashley Miller (Arcanum, OH/Franklin Monroe) and junior Ariana Neff (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) each had five kills for Wilmington. Freshman Kara Short (Conover, OH/Fairlawn) recorded four kills.

Neff recorded 17 of the team's 20 assists, while Biegler finished with a team-high 11 digs. Freshman Mallory Toops (South Charleston, OH/Southeastern), junior Emily Oberschlake (West College Corner, IN/Union County) and Neff all tallied seven digs for Wilmington.

Wilmington (2-21 overall, 0-4 OAC) travels to Baldwin Wallace 1 p.m. Saturday for another OAC match.
