Volleyball drops both ends of tri-match

OBERLIN - The Wilmington College volleyball team stepped away from Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday to participate in a tri-match hosted by Oberlin College, and the Fightin' Quakers fell in both games.

Wilmington lost in straight sets to Albion, 25-17, 25-13, 26-24, and then fell to the host Yeomen, 25-18, 25-8, 18-25, 25-14.

In the loss to Oberlin, junior Tabby Biegler (Columbus, OH/Briggs) finished with nine kills on 35 attempts and just four errors. She added a team-high 15 digs. Senior McKenzie Kilburn (Huber Heights, OH/ Wayne) and sophomore Catlin Pauley (Kenton, OH/Kenton) added seven kills each.

Senior Ashley Miller (Arcanum, OH/Franklin Monroe) finished with a team-high 20 assists. Junior Emily Oberschlake (West College Corner, IN/Union County) added 10 digs.

Biegler was also the team's attack leader in the loss to the Britons, finishing with nine kills on 24 attempts and just two errors. Kilburn added five kills for the Fightin' Quakers.

Freshman Kaleigh Trevino (Vandalia, OH/Butler) tallied 16 digs and Oberschlake recorded 14 digs for WC. Junior Ariana Neff (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) distributed 15 assists for Wilmington.

The Fightin' Quakers return home 7 p.m. Tuesday to face Capital in Ohio Athletic Conference, which will also be Wilmington volleyball's Pink Night.
