Volleyball drops pair at Manchester

MANCHESTER, IN – The Wilmington College volleyball team dropped a pair of games Friday at the Manchester Invitational. The Fightin' Quakers fell in straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-23) to Albion, and then fell 3-1 (25-17, 25-19, 24-26, 25-12) to Ohio Wesleyan.

Wilmington (2-9) plays Denison and Manchester at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, respectively.

In the opening match against Albion, senior Ashley Miller (Arcanum, OH/Franklin Monroe) led WC with nine kills on 18 attempts with just one error for a hitting percentage of .444. She added three service aces, three digs and two solo blocks. Senior Tabby Biegler (Columbus, OH/Briggs) and sophomore Catlin Pauley (Kenton, OH/Riverdale) each recorded seven kills for Wilmington.

Junior Ariana Neff (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) finished with 14 assists, and sophomore Noel Cain (Dayton, OH/Archbishop Carroll) added 10 assists. Junior Emily Oberschlake (West College Corner, IN/Union County) finished with 17 digs.

Miller, in the second match, was the lone player with double-figure kills – finishing with 13 on 30 attempts. She added four digs and a service ace. Oberschlake recorded a team-high 16 digs.

Neff distributed 16 assists and Cain added 12 for Wilmington.
