Volleyball knocks off Earlham, again

RICHMOND, IN – Sophomore Ashley Miller turned in a stellar performance as the Wilmington College volleyball team stepped out of Ohio Athletic Conference competition for the final time this season, beating Earlham, 3-1 (25-16, 26-24, 21-25, 25-9).

For the third time this season, Wilmington raced out to a 2-0 lead over their Quaker counterparts from Indiana. After watching the lead evaporate in the season-opener, WC ensured not to fall prey to Earlham again in such a disappointing fashion. The Fightin' Quakers improved to 7-12 this season, and will host Mount Union 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hermann Court.

Miller (Arcanum, OH/Franklin Monroe) registered a double-double with 21 digs and 13 kills, both team-highs. Freshman Ariana Neff (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) distributed 33 assists in the victory. Senior Sara Fisher (London, OH/Madison Plains) added 11 kills for the Quakers.

Two other players – sophomore Madi Ray (Loveland, OH/Loveland) and sophomore Emily Regan (Columbus, OH/Briggs) – had double figure digs with 13 and 15, respectively.
