WILMINGTON – With one small lineup tweak, interim head coach Jill West added some offense to the Wilmington offense.

Freshman setter Arianna Neff (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) was moved into the starting lineup, allowing sophomore Ashley Miller (Arcanum, OH/Franklin Monroe) to move back to her natural position at middle hitter.

"(Neff) has been getting better at practice," said West, "and we needed some more hitting, so we decided to throw her out there."

Coming into the match, Neff has recorded only 63 assists in 11 matches. In Wilmington's 3-1 (27-29, 25-19, 25-23, 25-17) victory over Earlham Friday in non-conference action, she distributed a career-high 43 assists. Neff added a career-high 11 digs for her first career double-double.

With the freshman at the net passing and Miller at her natural spot, the Fightin' Quakers posted a season-best .246 hitting percentage. Their previous high was .213 set in a September 8 victory over Findlandia.

Wilmington dropped the first set in a hotly contested 29-27 frame, but chose to look internal for motivation.

"We knew we could beat this team," said West. "We just had to focus and determine that we were going to win."

The senior duo of Anne Keenan (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) and Sara Fisher (London, OH/Madison Plains) did the majority of the damage, combining for 36 of the team's 51 kills. They also combined for six of the team's 11 aces.

Keenan hit a season-high .452 in recording a team-high 22 kills, while Fisher powered down a season-high 14 kills in the victory. Miller led the team with 12 digs, while sophomore Madi Ray (Loveland, OH/Loveland) chipped in with 10.

Wilmington (6-11) will be off until Saturday, September 29 when they travel to New Concord, OH for an OAC match against Muskingum.
