WILMINGTON - Senior Anne Keenan (Beavercreek/Beavercreek) recorded 23 kills as Wilmington posted its first victory of the season, beating Franklin, 25-22, 28-26, 18-25, 22-25, 15-9, Wednesday at Hermann Court.

The Lady Quakers (1-4) saved their best effort for last as they hit a match-high .429 in the final set. WC recorded 10 kills on 21 attempts with just one error. Keenan had three straight kills midway through the final match as the teams were trading points, but it was back-to-back kills by sophomore Natalie Sparks (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) that gave Wilmington much needed breathing room. Sophomore Emily Regan (Columbus/Briggs), who served well all game long, brought the match home with three straight points.

In just her fifth match at setter, converted middle hitter sophomore Ashley Miller (Arcanum/Franklin Monroe) recorded a career-high 43 assists. She added six digs for the Lady Quakers. In addition to her match-high 23 kils, Keenan recorded a team-high 13 digs.
