Durr, who has been an assistant coach for the last four seasons, takes the reins from Head Coach Ron Combs, who has been the College's head track & field coach for a quarter century. Combs won't be going far, however, as he will remain head cross country coach and transition to assistant track & field coach.
Academic All-Conference selections have at least a cumulative 3.5 grade-point average (GPA) at the end of the semester preceding the end of the spring season and be a sophomore academically or above. The student-athlete must also be a member of a varsity team, in a sport sponsored by the league, as well as be enrolled in a full-time capacity.
Sadie Devore, Molly Hafer, Abby Lodewyck, Megan Roell and Kylee Schafer garnered Academic All-District honors and will be on the ballot for a chance at becoming an Academic All-American.
Field events are slated to begin at 11 a.m. on both Thursday, May 4, and Friday, May 5. Track events start at 3:10 p.m. on day one and 3 p.m. on day two.
The Waynesville High School alumnus completed in the long jump, and leaped a season-best mark of 17' 8" to place in the top half of a 25-person field that featured scholarship competition.
The Quakers finished with 30 points as a team, ahead of Kenyon College, Defiance College, Muskingum University and John Carroll University. Case Western Reserve University (111 points) edged the host Battling Bishops (109 points) to win the meet.
The Wilmington team of Kylee Schafer, Madison Dietz, Jaineen Smith and Rachel Spanfellner finished the relay with a season-best time of 1:51.44 to score the team two points.
Schafer was just a single spot from appearing in the final of the 400-meter dash, placing ninth in preliminaries by crossing the finish line in 1:03.41.
