Women's Track & Field To Compete in Two Events This Weekend

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's track & field team will compete in two different events this weekend including the Centre Twilight Meet hosted by Centre College on Friday and the All-Ohio Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.

The Schedule: Wilmington will send its entire squad to the Centre Twilight Meet on Friday while Emma Burke will also compete in the 400-meter hurdles at the All-Ohio Meet on Saturday.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 19th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

Who to Watch – Track Events: Emma Burke drooped her season-best time of 1:05.35 in the 400-meter hurdles at the Tiffelberg Invational hosted by Heidelberg University this past weekend. She also has the top time in the 100-meter hurdles (15.70 seconds) set at the Cedarville Inviational two weeks ago. Brooke Gibbons, Katie Hughes and Savannah Rhodes are slated to compete in the 1,500-meter, 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs respectively and have the Quakers' best times in those events to date.

Who to Watch – Field Events: Kayli Sullivan, Keva Cox and Morgan Loomis will compete in throwing events for Wilmington on the wwekend. Sullivan set her best season mark in the shot put (39' 3 3/4") last weekend while Loomis threw the javelin a season-furthest 111' 6".
