Women's Track and Field to Compete in Jessica Starks Open

WILMINGTON, Ohio- The Wilmington College women's indoor track and field team will travel to Capital University to compete in the Jessica Starks Open on Saturday.

The Teams: Wilmington will be joined by Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) host Capital University and non-conference teams from Earlham College, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Ohio Dominican University, Thiel College, Cedarville University, Transylvania University, and the University of Rio Grande.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 17th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

WC Student-Athletes to Watch: Lauren Stacy, two-time OAC field athlete of the week, has been leading the charge for the Fightin' Quakers. At last week's OAC Split meet Stacy not only took first-place in both throwing events but broke her own Wilmington record in the weight throw. She will look to continue her winning streak this week. Lisa Bailey is coming off a successful week in the long jump and looks to repeat. The 60-meter hurdles are is run by Emma Burke. Not only do Bailey and Burke have success individually, but they play an integral role in the 4-x-200-meter relay.
