@DubC_XCTR competes at Great Lakes Elite

DELAWARE- Several members of the Wilmington College men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Great Lakes Elite Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Thursday. This was a non-scored meet, in which participants were attempting to better their national standing in hopes of being able to qualify for the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Junior Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) was the lone women's team member to compete in the meet today. Stacy threw 12.35-meters in the shot put and 39.36-meters in the discus throw. Unfortunately neither of these throws were her best to date. With her best throws, she is currently ranked 55th in the shot put and 51st in the discus throw, nationally.

Junior Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) was one of the two men's team members to compete in the meet this afternoon. His time of 53.91 in the 400-meter hurdles was just off his season best. His season best time of 53.62 was achieved at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championship earlier in the season and currently has him ranked 20th, nationally.

Junior Antone Truss (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) rounded out the team for the Fightin' Quakers today. He cleared 1.97-meters in the high jump. Like his two teammates, this jump failed to better his national standing. Currently, with a jump clearing 2.08-meters earlier this season, he sits eighth, nationally.

Selections for the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championship will be released early next week. The meet is hosted by the Spire Center and will begin on Thursday.
