Bolen scores in the discus; Lovett top time in 400 hurdles

The Wilmington College women's track and field team is currently tied for eighth of 10 teams following the first day of the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Beckett Track in Williams Stadium on the Wilmington College campus.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Senior Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) was the only WC competitor to score, placing sixth in the discus (37.08).
  • Sophomore Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Senior) qualified first in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.01). She also finished 16th in the 100 (12.95).
  • Four other Wilmington athletes competed in the 2016 championships.
  • Freshman Brooklyn Payne (Chicago, IL/Chicago Agricultural School) was 17th in the 200 (26.87) and 19th in the 100 (13.30).
  • Freshman Calla Henry (Connersville, IN/Connersville) was 18th in the discus (27.72), freshman Cierra Johnson (Cincinnati, OH/Fairfield) was 15th in the long jump (5.01) and freshman Sarah Pierce (New Carlisle, OH/Dominion Academy) was 16th in the 3000 steeplechase (13:26.53).
