Women's T&F finishes seventh

BEXLEY – The Wilmington College women's track and field team finished seventh of 10 teams at the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor championships at the Capital Center Saturday.

Senior Sarah Murphy (West Liberty, OH/West Liberty Salem) scored in four events – three individual – to lead the Fightin' Quakers. Her highest finish came in the 60 hurdles, placing fifth (9.28). She added a seventh-place finish in the 200 (27.13) and eighth in the 60 (8.21).

She teamed with Veronica Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond), Angela Dorsett (Pittsburg, PA/West Mifflin) and Christina Paskow (Felicity, OH/Felicity Franklin) to score in the 4x400 relay. The 4x200 relay team of Dorsett, Burnam, Elizabeth Davis (Springfield, OH/Northeastern) and Hannah Rolf (Springfield, OH/Northeastern) scored with a seventh place finish.

Wilmington had four athletes score in the shot put, led by junior Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) and freshman Tara Karnes (Greenfield, OH/McClain). Bolen (13.12 meters) and Karnes (12.84 meters) each earned All-OAC honors with second and third place finishes, respectively.  Sophomore Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) was sixth (11.82 meters) and freshman Megan Darst (Grove City, OH/Grove City) was eighth (11.19 meters).

Senior Tricia Steffen (Baltimore, OH/Liberty Union) added a fifth-place finish in the 5000 (18:51.35).

Wilmington kicks off the outdoor season on March 21 at the Transylvania Invitational.
