DELAWARE, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's swimming team concluded the Corbiere-Merion Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in fifth place after the final even concluded on Sunday.

The Fightin' Quakers finished the event with 302 points, well ahead of Manchester University and Urbana University. Host Ohio Wesleyan won the invitational with 963 points.

"We had some breakthrough swims this weekend that show people are swimming with more confidence," Head Women's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "A lot of swimmers at the meet were tapered, and even though we were not, we still competed very well."

Individually, Margaret Hover finished ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 20:09.22. Kassidy Rogers placed 10th in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:10.57.

Three of Wilmington's relay teams tallied top-10 finishes including the 200-yard freestyle relay squad of Maryn Herring, Alexis Jenkins, Ellyse Herr and Macki Leon that took 10th place with a time of 1:53.06. The Quakers had two teams finish in the top 10 in the 400-yard medley relay. Leon, Rebecca Curran, Herring and Hover finished fourth (2:28.05) while the team of Kadie Grundy, Rogers, Hannah Davis and Rachel O'Donnell took eighth (4:47.50).

"The momentum we gained from this meet will go a long way as we prepare for our training trip at the end of the semester," said Breen. "I look forward to continued improvement in January at our next competition."

Wilmington's next scheduled competition is a dual meet at Manchester University on Jan. 12, 2019.
