WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's swimming team opened up its 2018-19 season with a 124-76 loss to Baldwin Wallace University in a dual meet held at the Wilmington Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

"We have a young team that raced well today," Head Women's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "That said, we missed some opportunities and need to work on finishing races."

Macki Leon won three events for the Fightin' Quakers in the meeting including 100-meter IM by over seven seconds with a time of 1:14.35. She also won the 100-meter free style (1:05.13) and was joined by Maryn Herring, Margaret Hover and Hannah Davis on Wilmington's 200-meter freestyle relay-winning squad (2:01.19).

Along with being part of the winning relay, Davis took second in the 50-meter freestyle (30.82) and third in the 100-meter freestyle (1:08.09). Hover, another member of the relay team, took second in the 200-meter freestyle (2:26.50).

Herring, who is coming off an injury, added a second-place finish (1:16.54) in the 100-meter butterfly and took third place (31.61) in the 50-meter freestyle in addition to being a part of the winning 200-meter relay team.

"I am very pleased with our team, especially our seniors, for creating an environment for future success," said Breen. "The results aren't what we want yet, but we have an outstanding group that will get better every week."

Wilmington travels to Ohio Northern University for a dual meet on Oct. 26.
