Glish Garners Second Team Academic All-American Honors

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Wilmington College women's swimming senior Samantha Glish was recognized for her academic and athletic accomplishments by earning College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Second Team Academic All-American honors in the At-Large Division, the organization announced on Tuesday.

A mathematics and business administration double major, Glish finished her collegiate career with a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA), just one of three Fightin' Quaker seniors to achieve a perfect GPA. She was a four-year math and peer tutor as well as earned Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors every year. The Louisville, Kentucky, native is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Omicron Delta Epsilon and Green Key Honor Societies.

In the water, Glish is a 22-time OAC finalist as well as the Wilmington school record holder in seven events. At the 2018 OAC Championships, Glish won the 50-freestyle while, finished runner-up in the 100-freestyle and took fourth place in the 100-fly. She leaves the program as the highest female point scorer in school history.

"I am so happy for Samantha [Glish]. What an outstanding way to end her academic and athletic career here at Wilmington College," Head Women's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "Samantha combined her talents with a great work ethic and a denial of complacency to achieve incredible results.  She is very deserving of being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Team!  Congratulation Sam!"

Glish garnered CoSIDA/Google Cloud Academic All-District honors last month, which is required to get on the national ballot. She becomes the 15th Academic All-American in school history including the second Wilmington swimmer (Alisha Flatter, 2007) to earn Academic All-American honors.
