Women’s swimming fifth after day one- OWU invite

DELAWARE, Ohio-- The Wilmington College women's swimming team competed in two sessions of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday. After the day's events, the Fightin' Quakers sit in fifth-place with 215 points, 100 points ahead of sixth-place and only 26 points behind fourth-place.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Freshman Macki Leon (Ashland, OH/Ashland) was the team's top finisher over the course of the day. Leon posted a 2:20.00 in the 200-yard individual medley to win fourth-place.

  • The next highest finisher for the Fightin' Quakers was senior Samantha Glish (Louisville, OH/Ballard). She finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.87. She also competed individually in the 100-yard breaststroke where she was awarded seventh for a time of 1:16.91.

  • Freshman Hannah Davis earned ninth-place in the 200-yard butterfly, getting her hand to the wall in 2:42.37.

  • Davis, Glish, Leon, and freshman Margaret Hover (Grove City, OH) formed a 400-yard freestyle relay. They completed the 16-lengths in 3:54.83 and earned fourth-place.

  • Davis, Glish, Leon, and freshman Kadie Grundy (Lafayette, IN/Harrison) teamed up to create a 200-yard medley relay. The quartet earned sixth-place with a time of 2:04.26.

  • The Fightin' Quakers complete the final session of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational at 10 AM tomorrow.
