  • OAC Swimming Championship, Day 3 Prelims- Women

    AKRON- The Wilmington College women’s swimming team competed in the final prelim session of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship Saturday morning. The top sixteen times in each event from this morning’s session will swim, again, in finals this evening. The top eight times will swim in the championship heat, and the bottom eight in the consolation heat. Swims during the finals session are the only swims eligible for team points. Saturday’s prelims consisted of: 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, and 400-yard freestyle relay. The 1650-yard freestyle will also be contested today, as a timed final event. Though all but the top eight seeds competed during the prelims session, complete results and rankings will not be available until the conclusion of the event in this evening’s finals.

    AKRON- The Wilmington College women’s swimming team completed the Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming Championship, and their season, with a finals session Saturday evening. To be eligible to swim in a finals session, a swimmer must post one of the top sixteen times in the AM prelims session. The top eight times swim in a championship heat, and the bottom eight in a consolation heat. Consolation heat swimmers are not eligible for the top eight places, even if their time is worthy. Saturday’s finals consisted of: a timed final of the 1650-yard freestyle, the 200-yard backstroke, the 100-yard freestyle, the 200-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard butterfly, and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Women’s 3-meter and men’s 1-meter diving were also contested, though Wilmington fielded no athletes for those events. The women ended the weekend of hard swimming in sixth with 226 points.
  • OAC Swimming Championships- Day Two Prelims- Women

    AKRON- The Wilmington College women’s swimming team competed in the day two preliminary heats of the OAC Swimming Championships Friday morning. The top sixteen times posted in the preliminary heats will swim again in the evening finals. The top eight times will compete in the championship heat, while the bottom eight will compete in the consolation heat. Friday morning consisted of six events: 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, and 100-yard backstroke. In finals, the 800-yard freestyle relay will also be contested. The Fightin’ Quakers competed in all events, except the 400-yard individual medley. Following the momentum built from yesterday’s sessions, all of WC’s swims this morning were season bests.

The top eight times swim in a championship heat, and the bottom eight in a consolation heat. Consolation heat swimmers are not eligible for the top eight places, even if their time is worthy. Friday’s finals session consisted of the following events: 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, the 800-yard freestyle relay. Women’s 1-meter and men’s 3-meter diving were also contested; however, Wilmington fielded no athletes in those events. At the conclusion of the session, the Fightin’ Quakers are in sixth place, with 166 points.

    AKRON- TThe Wilmington College women’s swimming team completed session one of the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship Thursday morning. This three-day championship meet consists of a prelims and finals session each day. From each morning prelims session, the top 16 times advance to the finals session with the top eight times swimming in the championship final heat and the bottom eight times swimming in the consolation final heat. Only final session swims are eligible for points. Thursday's prelim session consisted of four events: 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, and the 400-yard medley relay and the Fightin' Quakers competed extremely well as 13 of the 14 individual swims were significant season bests.
  • Women fifth after day one OAC Championships

    AKRON- The Wilmington College women’s swimming team competed in their first finals session of the OAC Championships Thursday. The three day championship consists of a prelims and finals session each day. The top sixteen prelims times advance to finals and are the only swims of the day that are eligible for team points. Additionally, those swimming in a consolation final are not eligible for the top eight spots, even if they turn in a time worthy of a spot in the top eight. At the conclusion of a strong showing in Thursday’s finals, the Fightin’ Quakers are sitting fifth with 90 points.
  • Seasonal bests for @DubC_Swimming women in final dual of season

    UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS- The Wilmington College women’s swimming team competed in their last dual meet of the season Saturday against John Carroll University. Though the Fightin’ Quakers achieved a number of seasonal bests over the course of the meet, John Carroll still came out on top, 186-67.

    WILMINGTON- The Wilmington College women's swimming team celebrated their seniors and dove back into the pool Saturday in an OAC dual meet against the University of Mount Union. Despite having a Fightin' Quaker in the top 3 finishers in all but one event, Mount Union beat Wilmington 138-64.

    NORTH MANCHESTER, Indiana- The Wilmington College women’s swimming team competed in a dual meet on Saturday against Manchester University, an affiliate member of the OAC. Prior to this meet, the women had not competed since November 20. This hiatus, however, did not cause them to miss a stroke, as they claimed first in 9 of the 11 swimming events and posted several seasonal bests. Of the remaining three events, the Fightin’ Quakers posted the fastest times in two of them, though they did not score. The final tally was Wilmington 122, Manchester 64.

    DELAWARE- The Wilmington College women’s swimming team concluded the Corbiere-Merion Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday. The day consisted of one, timed-final session. The women finished the meet in third place with 525.5 points.

    DELAWARE- The Wilmington College women’s swimming team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University this weekend to compete in the Corbiere-Merion Invitational. This meet consists of three, timed final sessions, with two sessions on Saturday, and one on Sunday. At the conclusion of session one, the Fightin’ Quakers were solidly in third-place with 225 points. They held their ground throughout the second session, ending the day in third-place with 366.5 points.

    The Wilmington College women’s swimming team demonstrated immense strength in a non-OAC dual meet on Saturday against Hiram College, beating the Terriers, 119-66.

    On Saturday, the Wilmington College Women’s Swim Team traveled to Wittenberg University to compete in a double-dual meet against Wittenberg and Transylvania University. This meet was the first one of the season that featured a ‘long’ line-up, consisting of 200s of stroke, in addition to the normal events. Wittenberg also competed on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. The Fightin’ Quakers fell to both teams (Wittenberg v Wilmington 204-68; Transylvania v Wilmington 170-84).

    ADA, Ohio- The Wilmington College Women’s Swim Team traveled to Ohio Northern on Friday to compete in their second OAC dual meet of the year. The meet consisted of an unconventional line-up, with various 50-yard events and the 100 Individual Medley, in addition to the usual collegiate line-up. Ohio Northern also competed on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Despite various in season bests and a broken team record, the Fightin’ Quakers fell to the Polar Bears 215-67.

    The Wilmington College women's swimming team dove into the pool for the first time this season on Saturday racing against Baldwin Wallace. Despite best efforts and several seasonal best times, the women's team couldn't pull ahead and fell to the Yellow Jackets, 135-67.
