Routzong records only victory

ADA – In a culmination of little things adding up, the Wilmington College women's swimming team won just one of 12 events in falling to Ohio Northern Friday, 162-51, in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

"We found a few more things to work on in practice this week," said Wilmington head coach Trip Breen. "This meet exposed some little things. We need to work on our turns, and had some problems with head positioning. We have a list of little things to work on. Both teams did a great job. However, we have to get better before next week."

Junior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana) claimed the 100 butterfly with the time of 1:07.76.

Senior Addie Roberts (Franklin, OH/Franklin) had two good swims, finishing third in the 1,000 freestyle (11:52.89) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:53.22).

"Rachel had an incredible race," said Breen. "Addie had two great distance swims, and fought the whole time and really proved her toughness."

Senior Chelsea Simpson (Stow, OH/Stow) posted an in-season best time in the 500 freestyle (6:11.07).

Wilmington returns to the pool 1 p.m. November 8 in a tri-meet at Transylvania with Wittenberg.
