Women's Soccer Falls to Baldwin Wallace 2-1

WILMINGTON, Ohio - After a scoreless first half, the Wilmington College women's soccer team conceded two second half goals, ultimately falling to Baldwin Wallace University 2-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action from Williams Stadium on Saturday evening. 

The Fightin' Quaker offense tested Baldwin Wallace goalkeeper Katie Scott five times in the first half. Freshman Alex Wilson had six shots in the first half including a header that hit crossbar and deflected away. Maddie Farrell for Baldwin Wallace recieved a yellow card in the 16th minute after a disagreement with the referee. Wilmington's Gabriella Gordon was given a yellow card late in the first half after a particularly strong challenge. Despite these fireworks, the match would remain scoreless at the half. 

Wilmington held a 14-9 shot advantage in the second half, but again struggled to finish in the final third of the field. In the 61st minute, Natalie Stewart scored for the Yellow Jackets, assisted by Maddie Farrell. Just 10 minutes later, the Yellow Jackets would strike again as Mary Litzinger scored an unassisted goal giving Baldwin Wallace a 2-0 lead. The Quakers Haley Fulton sent a fantastic corner kick into the box and Elizabeth Matthews was able to connect and put the ball in the net. Wilmington would not be able to close the gap any further as Baldwin Wallace took home the victory by a score of 2-1.

Wilmington goalkeeper Lauren Galloway had eight saves in tonights effort. Yellow Jacket goalkeeper Katie Scott had 10 saves. Quaker Alex Wilson had eight shots with five of those on goal. 

Up next, Wilmington will face Otterbein University on the road on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
