Otterbein Shuts Out Women's Soccer

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team traveled to the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) leaders, the Cardinals of Otterbein University, who came out on top 4-0 on Tuesday evening.

The victory for Otterbein marks its 10th consecutive win and its ninth shutout of the season. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 12-2-0 and 6-0-0 in OAC competition. The Fightin' Quakers now sit at 8-6-0 and 2-4-0 in the OAC.

The Cardinals had some early chances with seven shots in the first 20 minutes, and finally put one away in the 27th minute by Delaney Earl assisted by Priscilla Severance. The Cardinals led shooting in the first half 11-2 with four of those shots being on frame.

Otterbein flexed its muscles in the second half by scoring in the 52nd minute from Severance assisted by Annie Mosca. Another Cardinal goal came in the 56th minute from Bella Shivley with a 25 yard shot over goalkeeper Leda Moyer's hands, assisted by Cassidy Nicol. The final goal of the night was scored by Haley Hotchkiss in the 77th minute assisted by Holly Bernhold's corner kick.

Moyer had an eventful night in goal for the Quakers with 15 total saves while Cardinals goalie Erin Gordon had just one save. The shot totals of the night went in favor of Otterbein 30-3 and the Cardinals also had the advantage in corners kicks 13-3.

The Quakers' next game will be at home on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. against Baldwin Wallace University.
