Women's Soccer's Six-Game Winning Streak Snapped at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team lost its first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) game Saturday night, falling 2-0 at the University of Mount Union.

 The loss breaks a six-game winning streak from the Fightin' Quakers putting them at 8-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in OAC competition. Mount Union improves to 5-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the OAC.

The Raiders would score early with a goal from Danielle Rohrman in the 25th minute assisted by Nicole Lanese. The goal was scored from the first shot on goal by the Raiders. Despite the goal Wilmington out shot the Raiders 5-4 with four shots landing on frame for the Quakers in the first half.

Mount Union would seal the win with a goal by Lauren Beech in the 87th minute as the Quakers were pushing numbers forward in an attempt to tie the game. Wilmington again out shot the Raiders 10-8 in the second half, but were not able to convert one into a goal.

Leda Moyer had four saves on six shots on goal for the Quakers while Michelle Kissane received credit for the win from Mount Union with seven saves.

Wilmington had the advantage in shots 15-12, shots on goal 6-5 and corner kicks 5-1, but couldn't break through the Purple Raider defense.

Wilmington will face off against the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears at home Wednesday Oct. 10.
