Women's Soccer Hosts Muskingum in OAC Action on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's soccer team hosts Muskingum University for a 7 p.m. Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest on Wednesday evening.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers enter the contest with a 7-2-0 record and a 1-0-0 mark in OAC play after shutting out Heidelberg 1-0 on Saturday. The Fighting Muskies are 5-5-0 overall after dropping their OAC opener 4-0 to John Carroll University.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 27th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Mary Beth Caudill is in her 23rd season as Muskingum's head women's soccer coach.

The Players: Wilmington has scored 17 goals this season from 10 different players. Alex Vestal leads the team with four goals and three assists, including the game-winning over Heidelberg, for 11 total points. Four other Quakers – Kaitlin Evans, Lakyn Hupp, Paige Lane and Taylor Leake – have all scored two goals for four points. Defensively, Leda Moyer has given up just 0.66 goals per game with five shutouts. A trio of Muskies – Mary Double, Britney Golden and Natalie Woodward – has all scored five goals for Muskingum.

Fast Start: Wilmington's 7-2-0 start is the program's best beginning to a season since the 2012 campaign.

Series History: Wilmington is 22-0-1 against Muskingum since the 1991 season. The Muskies have not scored a goal on the Quakers in a decade. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
