Women's Soccer Faces Road Test at Anderson on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's soccer team travels to Anderson University for a non-conference contest at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Anderson. The Fightin' Quakers are 3-2-0 overall after a 3-0 shutout victory at Ohio Christian University on Wednesday evening. The Ravens are 2-1-1 on the season after a 1-0 victory over Spalding University in double overtime.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 27th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Jennifer Myhre, a graduate of perennial soccer power Messiah College, is in her seventh season as head coach at Anderson.

The Players: Seven different Quakers have scored for Wilmington including Lakyn Hupp, who netted both of her goals this season in the victory over Ohio Christian. Goalkeeper Leda Moyer, who made seven saves on Wednesday, averages giving up less than one goal per game this season. Three Ravens – Emily Buchman, Katie Frazer and Morgan Reed – lead Anderson offensively with two goals each.

Series History: Wilmington is 4-0-2 against Anderson in the last two decades. The Quakers and Ravens tied the last time the two teams met in Indiana, 1-1 on Sept. 3, 2016. More information can be viewed by visiting the link above.
