CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - After falling to Mount St. Joseph University 2-1 in overtime on Saturday, the Wilmington College women's soccer team rebounding with a 3-0 shutout victory at Ohio Christian University (OCU) on Wednesday evening.

They [OCU] were a difficult team to play," Head Coach Steve Spirk said. "They have good size and played the ball very direct, which posed some challenges for us."

Mellonee Hall, scoring the first goal of the game at the 14:04 mark on a penalty kick, lit a fire the Quakers knew they needed to win this game. After a shot missed by both Kaitlin Evans and Lakyn Hupp, Hupp scored in the 43rd minute making the score 2-0 at the end of the half.

Evans began the second half on the offensive, firing a shot that just missed target. Seconds later, Grace Baracskai also took a shot at goal, but it was save by OCU's goalkeeper, Emily Boyd. Wilmington kept up the offensive pressure and it paid off towards the end of regulation as Hupp scored her second goal off a pass from Evans.

"Lakyn [Hupp] came off the bench and scored two goals tonight," said Spirk. "Leda Moyer was also very solid in goal for us."

Moyer saved all seven shots she faced to earn a shutout victory. Offensively, Evans and Hupp combined for nine shots for Wilmington while Brooke Wilhite and Morgan Grunkemeyer both had three shots for the Trail Blazers

The Fightin' Quakers (3-2-0) will be back on the road on Saturday, September 15th, as they take on Anderson University (Indiana). The contest is set to begin at 1 p.m.
