Women's Soccer Travels to Ohio Christian on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's soccer team will be away this week as the Fightin' Quakers take on the Ohio Christian University (OCU) for a 5 p.m. contest on Wednesday.  

The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Christian. The Quakers are now 2-2-0 after taking a loss at home against Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday afternoon. The Trailblazers are 3-1-1 after a 1-1 draw against the Shawnee State University Bears on Saturday.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 27th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Jake Warren is in his fourth season coaching the Trailblazers.

The Players: Five different Quakers – Hale Burge, Kaitlin Evans, Paige Lane, Taylor Leake and Alex Vestal – have all scored one goal for Wilmington. Vestal assisted the only goal scored by Haley Burge in Saturday's contest against the Lions. The Trailblazers have scored 25 goals in the three games that have been played this season. Brooke Wilhite, Brooke Lezotte and Emmily King are leading their team in goals thus far.

Series History: Wilmington is 2-0 against Ohio Christian University having beaten the Trailblazers each of the last two seasons, 3-1 and 2-0 respectively.
