@DubC_WSoccer loses to Centre

DANVILLE, KY – Less than 24 hours after playing to a scoreless draw, the Wilmington College women's soccer team was back in action. Unfortunately, the Fightin' Quakers surrendered seven goals in falling to Centre, 7-0, Sunday in non-conference action at Amend Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Colonels scored four goals in the first half, and added three more in the second half.
  • For the second straight game, Wilmington didn't manage a shot on goal in the first half. Wilmington was able to find its offense in the second half, launching nine shots – eight of which were on goal.
  • Centre finished with 12 corner kicks, while WC didn't have a corner kick.
  • Senior Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Senior) was the only player with multiple shots on goal, recording a pair.
  • Senior Ana Hosler (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) recorded one save on eight shots in 71:35 of action. Sophomore Leda Moyer (Martinsville, OH/Clinton-Massie) recorded a save on her only shot in almost 20 minutes of action.

"A poor first half hurt us today," said Wilmington head coach Steve Spirk. "Centre played well today."

Wilmington (2-4-1) returns home 7 p.m. Wednesday, hosting Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.
