Steve Spirk nets 300th career coaching win, November 2, 2017November 03, 2017As the final seconds ticked off the clock last week in the Wilmington College women’s soccer team’s 1-0 decision over Muskingum, a conspiracy quickly unfolded as several seniors grabbed the iconic orange Gatorade bucket and moved in the direction of Steve Spirk. The victory not only marked a late-season win over an Ohio Athletic Conference rival, but it was Spirk’s 300th victory as the Fightin’ Quakers’ head coach. It marked a significant milestone for both the coach and program that have been part of conference championships, NCAA Tournaments, and prominence in NCAA Division III soccer. The 300th win evoked memories of players, matches, training sessions and all that has gone into building one of the most solid small college programs in Ohio since he took over as head coach in 1992.

Heidelberg outlasts Wilmington, 1-0October 28, 2017The Wilmington College women’s soccer team competed in their last match of the 2017 regular season Saturday afternoon. Throughout the course of the 90-minute match, the Fightin’ Quakers were able to tally a total of 18 shots--to Heidelberg’s seven--12 of which were on goal. Only six of the 18 shots were taken during the first half, the remaining 12 in the second-half. Despite this second half surge in shots taken, the Fightin’ Quakers were unable to best Heidelberg and lost 1-0.

Spirk celebrates 300!October 24, 2017The Wilmington College women’s soccer team claimed a win in OAC action against Muskingum University Tuesday evening. The 1-0 shut-out not only marked the team’s second OAC win this season, but coach Steve Spirk’s 300th career win.
