WSOC falls to BW, 3-0

The Wilmington College women's soccer team fell to Baldwin Wallace Saturday, 3-0, in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Williams Stadium.

With the loss, the Fightin' Quakers fall to 6-9 overall, 0-5 in the OAC, while Baldwin Wallace improves to 9-6-1 overall, 5-0 in the OAC.

"Being parent's night, it's disappointing," said Wilmington head coach Steve Spirk. "We were hoping for a better result. I think the difference in the game is they made plays when they needed to, and we didn't. The three goals they got were three good chances they finished, and to me, that was the difference in the game."

Baldwin Wallace took advantage on its limited opportunities in the first half, scoring on its second shot in the game in the 15th minute. The two teams combined for just 10 shots on the game, three of those shots coming in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets tallied two more goals in the second half to complete the scoring.

Five different Wilmington players managed shots in the game with senior Angela Phillips (Union, OH/Northmont), sophomore Taylor Scott (Lynchburg, OH/Lynchburg-Clay) and freshman Mellonee Hall (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) launching shots on goal.

Senior Taylor Franklin (Delaware, OH/Rutherford B. Hayes) made one save on four shots in 74:24 minutes, while freshman Ana Hosler (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) recorded a save on the only shot she faced.

Wilmington returns to the pitch 7 p.m. Tuesday against Otterbein in OAC action.
