Women's soccer upset by Marietta

MARIETTA – The Wilmington College women's soccer team opened Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday, falling to previously winless Marietta, 1-0.

The Pioneers scored the game's only marker in the 27th minute.

Wilmington falls to 6-5-1 overall, 0-1 in the OAC, while Marietta improves to 1-9-1, 1-0 OAC.

The Fightin' Quakers seemingly dominated the first half with seven shots on goal, but the MC goalkeeper managed to maintain a clean sheet. Marietta only had three shots in the half, two on goal, but they were able to find the back of the net.

Wilmington had three of its four corner kicks in the first 45 minutes.

Senior Camille Gentile (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) tallied a team-high four shots, three of which were on goal, while sophomore Taylor Scott (Lynchburg, OH/Lynchburg Clay) added three shots, all on goal, in the loss.

Freshman Ana Hosler (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) suffers her second loss in as many starts, recording five saves on six shots.

WC returns to Williams Stadium 7 p.m. Tuesday, hosting Ohio Northern in OAC action.
