Women's Soccer wins sixth straight

DELAWARE – It didn't take long for the Wilmington College women's soccer team to take control of its non-conference match with Ohio Wesleyan, scoring just 28 seconds into the game.

The Fightin' Quakers added two more first-half goals en route to recording the 3-1 victory over the Battlin' Bishops Wednesday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex. With the win, WC has won six consecutive to improve to 6-3.

Sophomore Taylor Scott (Lynchburg, OH/Lynchburg-Clay) continues to pace the Wilmington offense. The forward scored the aforementioned quick goal off an assist from senior Angela Phillips (Union, OH/Northmont). Scott now has a team-high six goals on the season. She added an assist on the team's third goal of the game, feeding junior Kala Fox (Ashland, OH/Hillsdale) in the 32nd minute.

In between those two goals, senior Camille Gentile (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) scored her fifth goal of the season, taking a pass from freshman Alexis Bailey (Middletown, OH/Middletown) in the 21st minute.

Freshman Ana Hosler (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) played 74:12 in relief of senior Taylor Franklin (Delaware, OH/Rutherford B. Hayes) to earn her first collegiate win. Hosler allowed one goal, while making five saves.

Wilmington concludes its non-conference schedule, traveling to Manchester 1 p.m. Saturday.
