DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Wilmington College wrestling team won the four heaviest weight classes, but Defiance College took the lighter-weight classes in a 28-21 victory over the Fightin' Quakers on Sunday evening.

The first two classes ended in forfeits with neither team claiming the 125-pound weight class and the Yellow Jackets taking the 133-pound weight class. Defiance won the next two classes by technical fall as Alexander Smith beat Garrett Simmons and Cortez Bradley bested Adrian Salamone. Victories via fall in the 157-pound (Matthew Beard over Patrick Kelley and 165-pound (Kerington Martin over Trey Williams) classes gave Defiance its 28 points.

Wilmington would win the final four flights with three of those victories coming via pin. Alex Hobbs (174-pound weight class) beat Sean Rankin in 3:00 even while Caleb Tackett (197-pound weight class) needed just 1:05 to dispatch Mason Morris. Shadrach Brausch (285-pound weight class) beat Jonah Schlegel in 3:50 while Skyler Cowgill (184-pound weight class) earned a narrow 6-3 decision over Jack Minner.

The Quakers have a quick turnaround as they host Ohio Northern University for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual meet on Tuesday evening.
