Women's Lacrosse Takes on John Carroll Friday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team will compete at home against John Carroll University on Friday, April 6. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss against Ohio Northern on Wednesday evening. John Carroll is coming off its first loss of the season to the University of Mount Union in a tight contest 16-13.

The Coaches: Taylor Martin is at the helm of Wilmington College in her first season. Martin spent her last two years as a graduate assistant at Castleton University where she received her master's degree in Athletic Leadership. Prior to her time at Castleton, Martin was the director of Lacrosse and Head Coach at a boarding school north of London. Martin competed for Berry College and started all four years as the goalie. Rachel Dell enters her fourth season at the helm of the women's lacrosse program in 2017-18 and is currently sitting at a 40-15 career record, with a 15-6 mark in OAC matches, as of April 3, 2018.

The Players: Wilmington's offense has been led by Becca Petra so far this season. On the season, Petra has scored 16 goals and five assists. Rachel Reinhart has accumulated 13 points this season, scoring 10 goals and three assists. Defensively, Wilmington is led by Goalie Meghan Wieloch who has picked up 137 saves on the season while Hannah Gratsch and Abby Engelhart have picked up 25 and 29 ground balls, respectively. John Carroll is led by a handful of players offensively with Gina Vilsack leading the way with 39 goals. Defensively, Brooke McQuinn has a team-high 18 caused turnovers, while goalie Elyssa Zalbo has recorded 73 saves and eight wins on the year.
