Women's Lacrosse Falls to Ursuline 17-4

Wilmington, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team narrowly fell to Ursuline College 17-4 in the second straight home game on Saturday afternoon. Wilmington will continue its home stretch with hosting Mt. St. Joseph University on Wednesday, March 7th at 7 pm.

Wilmington came out slow defensively allowing two straight goals on the first two possessions of the game. The Fightin' Quakers were able to come up with an answer on a Becca Petra goal assisted by Rachel Reinhart. The Arrows went on a 7-0 scoring run to close out the second half. The Arrows were led by Abby Allard who was able to score three goals in the first half increasing the lead to 10-1.

The Quakers opened up the second half with a quick goal on its first possession. Petra scored again with her second on the day and was assisted by Reinhart. Ursuline went on another scoring run putting in four more goals before the Quakers could answer back. The last two goals from Wilmington came from Reinhart and Kelly Angevine.

Wilmington's offense was led by Petra with two goals on two shots along with Reinhart who scored one goal and assisted on two others. Defensively, the Quakers were led by Hannah Gratsch who forced six turnovers and was able to pick up six ground balls. Goalie Megan Wieloch was able to make 14 saves on 31 shots.

Wilmington (0-3) will host Mt. St. Joseph University on Wednesday, March 7 for a matchup against the Lions. The game will start at 7 p.m.
