Women's Lacrosse picked to finish 9th in the OAC


The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team was picked to finish ninth in the nine-team Ohio Athletic Conference preseason poll, the league announced recently, "however, we are prepared to shock everyone this season" said Wilmington first year head coach, Bree Galloway. "With five freshmen bringing their high school lacrosse experience to the team and our returners' persistent effort to grow in skill and strategic knowledge, we are looking to do great things this season" said coach Galloway.

The Fightin' Quakers are coming off a 2-14 season in 2016. "The team has been putting in extra time with wall ball and individual cardio, as well as going 110% during practice to bring their game to the next level" said coach Galloway.

"All around we are looking like a different program a major strength we will have this year is going to be with our defensive unit" said coach Galloway. Junior Megan Wieloch (Canton, MI/Plymouth) returning to net this year, along with veteran defenders Whitney Brofford, Sam Spitler, Kara Griffith, and Kayla Ogan.

"The mixture of veterans and freshman in the midfield is something I am very excited about" said Galloway. Some of our impact newcomers will be freshmen, Clara Blaine, Rachel Brown, and Hannah Gratsch, along with juniors, Becca Petra and Abby Engelhart, will create a great balance on the field. The midfield chemistry along with help from Rachel Reinhart and Summer Wilbur in the attacking positions, will prove to be a stong offensive threat throughout the season.

The Fightin' Quakers will begin their season on Saturday, March 4th 2017, at Trine University at 2:00pm.
