The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team fell to John Carroll Saturday, 22-2, in Ohio Athletic Conference action on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.

"We hung in the game for a while, and didn't know what to expect from (JCU)," said Wilmington head coach Brett Yenger. "They went on a run and we had to play catch up, and we didn't have the aggressiveness to come back. We passed well and had better looks on attack. We can carry that into our games next week."

Senior Loryn Bryson (Carlisle, OH/Carlisle) and junior Abby Jude (Lancaster, OH/Fairfield Union) each scored for the Fightin' Quakers, and freshman Jenni Caporale (Louisville, KY/Ballard) had an assist.

Wilmington was outshot, 36-9, and John Carroll held the 18-7 advantage in draw controls.

Freshman Megan Wieloch (Canton, MI/Plymouth) allowed 13 goals with six saves over the first 30 minutes, while junior Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) allowed nine goals on nine shots in the second half.

Wilmington (2-10 overall, 0-3 OAC) hosts Mount St. Joseph 5 p.m. Wednesday on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium in non-conference action.
