BEXLEY – The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team fell to Capital, 22-3, Wednesday in Ohio Athletic Conference play at Bernlohr Stadium.

"We had some great moments on both attack and defense, and tried some new things," said Wilmington head coach Brett Yenger. "Unfortunately, we just didn't have enough great moments and came up short in the end."

Three different players – freshman Jenni Caporale (Louisville, KY/Ballard), junior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana) and sophomore Nikki Northern (Dayton, OH/Chaminade Julienne) – scored for the Fightin' Quakers.

Caporale, who has scored in six of the last seven games, scored less than four minutes into the game to pull Wilmington even at one. Capital answered by scoring 13 straight to end the first half, and one to start the second before Wilmington found the back of the net again.

Routzong scored her tenth goal of the season with 19:10 remaining in the game, and Northern tallied her fourth goal of the season with 9:48 remaining.

Junior Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) took the loss in goal, allowing eight goals in 8:55 minutes in the net. Freshman Megan Wielock (Canton, MI/Plymouth) made four saves and allowed 14 goals in the game.

Wilmington (2-9 overall, 0-2 OAC) hosts John Carroll 5 p.m. Saturday in Ohio Athletic Conference action on Townsend Field at Williams Stadium.
