The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team opened Ohio Athletic Conference action with a 15-3 loss to Baldwin Wallace Friday on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.

"We kept fighting throughout the game, and never gave up," said Wilmington head coach Brett Yenger. "We tried some new things and kept adjusting to the situations. We had a hard time with groundballs and protecting our sticks, but it's noting we can't fix. We upped the aggressiveness and it helped prevent a lot of shots defensively. We did a much better job shooting and capitalized on most of the shots we got."

Baldwin Wallace tallied the first 11 goals of the game before freshman Jenni Caporale (Louisville, KY/Ballard) scored with 1:26 remaining in the first half.

Sophomore Kiki Hall (Westerville, OH/Central) added a goal to kick off the second half with 28:42 remaining to pull Wilmington to within 11-2.

After BW scored to push the lead back to 10 goals, junior Abby Jude (Lancaster, OH/Fairfield Union) scored Wilmington's final goal with 18:46.

The Yellow Jackets capped the scoring with three straight goals.

Baldwin Wallace was 36-of-40 on their clear attempts, while the Fightin' Quakers were just 18-of-38. The Yellow Jackets launched 35 shots as compared to seven for Wilmington.

Junior Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) allowed 11 goals, making five saves in 30 minutes of action. Freshman Megan Wieloch (Canton, OH/Plymouth) added four saves on eight shots, playing the entire second half.

Wilmington (2-8 overall, 0-1 OAC) travels to Capital 5 p.m. Wednesday for OAC action.
