Three players scored multiple goals in @WCWLax home loss to Loras

Three players scored two goals each, but the Wilmington College women's lacrosse team fell to Loras Wednesday, 8-7, in non-conference action at Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.

"We really played well as a team and made a total effort in the game," said Wilmington head coach Brett Yenger. "They executed what I wanted them to execute and worked hard all over the field. A few unlucky goals against us and lucky moments for the other team just put behind in the end. We passed well on attack and played aggressive on defense. I can't ask for much more than that."

Junior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana), sophomore Kiki Hall (Westerville, OH/Central) and freshman Jenni Caporale (Louisville, KY/Ballard) all found the net three times in the loss. Caporale added an assist.

The Duhawks took control of the contest by scoring four of the last five goals to end the half. Loras tallied three consecutive goals as WC's 3-2 lead was turned into a 5-3 deficit. The visitors added two goals to start the second half to take their biggest lead of the game (8-5) with 17:32 remaining in the game.

However, Wilmington wasn't about to go away quietly.

Caporale scored an unassisted with 13:02 remaining and Hall found the net on an unassisted goal with 9:19 remaining.

Senior Loryn Bryson (Carlisle, OH/Carlisle) added a free position goal with 1:29 to pull Wilmington to within one. The Fightin' Quakers had a couple looks at the equalizer, but couldn't quite get the tying score.

Junior Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) took the loss (2-6), making seven saves on 15 shots in 60 minutes of action.

Wilmington (2-7) returns to action 1 p.m. Friday to face Baldwin Wallace in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener.
