Women's lax falls in finale

The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team concluded the 2014 season with a 26-13 loss to Georgetown Friday at Williams Stadium in non-conference action.

Seniors Rachel Gutowski (Petoskey, MI/Petoskey) and Sammy Koerner (Fairfield, OH/Hamilton Badin) played their final games of their collegiate careers, and they went down fighting.

Koerner scored six goals with a career-high three assists and five groundballs, while Gutowski added three goals and one assist with nine draw controls and six groundballs.

The Tigers scored 14 of the 17 second-half goals to turn a two-goal advantage into a 13-goal victory.

Sophomore Loryn Bryson (Carlisle, OH/Carlisle) added two goals, while sophomore Taylor Miller (Enon, OH/Greenon) and freshman Kiki Hall (Westerville, OH/Central) each scored once for Wilmington.

Georgetown took advantage of its free position opportunities, going 8-for-10, and the Fightin' Quakers were just 3-for-12.
