Women's lacrosse falls 21-2

The Wilmington College women's lacrosse fell in non-conference action to Ursuline 21-2 Sunday at Williams Stadium.

The Arrows came out as the aggressor, scoring the game's first four goals of the game. Junior Loryn Bryson (Carlisle, OH/Carlisle) got the Fightin' Quakers on the board with a goal at the 23:30 mark. Senior Sammy Koerner (Fairfield, OH/Badin) recorded the assist on the play. Koerner led the team with six shots.

Ursuline countered with eight unanswered to take a 12-1 lead.

Senior Rachel Gutowski (Petoskey, MI/ Petoskey) added to the score with an unassisted goal to end the first half. She finished with four shots and a team-high 10 groundball pick ups.

Wilmington was unable to find the back of the net in the second half, and the Arrow tallied nine second-half scores.

Combined, the Wilmington College women's lacrosse team unleashed 20 shots – 10 in each half - caused 18 turnovers, and fought for 34 ground balls.

Sophomore Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) finished the game with 11 saves.

Wilmington (0-3) travels to Cincinnati for a non-conference meeting with the College of Mount St. Joseph 5 p.m. Wednesday.
