Women's lax wraps up season

WESTERVILLE – The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team wrapped up their inaugural campaign Thursday with a 14-3 loss to Otterbein at Clements Field. The Lady Quakers finished the season 0-11.

Three different players – Sarah Watters (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin), Rachel Gutowski (Petoskey, MI/Petoskey) and Sammy Koerner (Fairfield, OH/Hamilton Badin) – all scored for the Lady Quakers. All three of the Wilmington goals came in the second half.

Otterbein scored twice in the game's first three minutes and then seized control of the game midway through the first half. The Cardinals scored four goals during a three-minute stretch to push the advantage to 7-0, and eventually led 9-0 at halftime.

Wilmington was outshot 17-5 in the first half, and 31-11 in the game. The Cardinals were a perfect 8-for-8 in clear attempts in the opening 20 minutes, and finished 13-of-15 for the game.

Watters got the Lady Quakers on the board early in the second half, scoring with 26:11 remaining in the half. Unfortunately, Otterbein had an immediate response – scoring less than a minute later.

Karalyne Brown (Patterson, NJ/Franklin) registered eight saves, four in each half, in the season finale.
